Injury Recognition and Prevention: Lower & Upper Extremity covers the most common musculoskeletal injuries of the arms, legs and spine. The text is designed to be a reference tool for students and professionals that work with athletes or a physically active population. Each chapter covers a specific anatomical joint area and includes: a brief review of musculoskeletal anatomy, common injury etiology, signs and symptoms for easy recognition, and the most commonly prescribed treatment or rehabilitation plan. Also discussed are preventative measures to avoid sustaining these common injuries. The first unit of the text discusses lower extremity injuries while the second unit of the text discusses upper extremity injuries.
Genevieve Elizabeth Ludwig, EdD, ATC is an assistant professor and athletic training clinical education coordinator at Southern Utah University. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Montana Western in K-12 health and physical education with emphasis in sports medicine, her master's degree in secondary education while working as an athletic training graduate assistant at Eastern Oregon University, and her doctorate of education from Walden University. Dr. Ludwig has work experience in a variety of settings including industry, physical therapy, intercollegiate and high school athletics as well as collegiate recreation and club sports. She has worked as a clinical education coordinator for the past three years.

Megan Jane Streveler, EdD, LAT, is the athletic training program director at the University of Iowa. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in exercise & sport science – athletic training, her masters' degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison in educational administration-higher education, and earned her doctorate of education from the University of Minnesota.  Dr. Streveler has over 17 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer working in a variety of settings and serving in a variety of roles related to athletic training education.
