Clyve Jones was Reader in Modern History at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London, UK, until his retirement in 2006. He also served as the Institute’s collection development librarian, and since 1986 has edited the journal Parliamentary History. A widely published specialist on the British House of Lords in the early eighteenth-century, as well as on the nation’s peerage, his most recent work, as editor, was A Short History of Parliament (2009).
