This book introduces quantum computing and quantum communications at the undergraduate level for students in the physical sciences, engineering, and mathematics, assuming no prior knowledge of quantum mechanics. Eduardo R. Mucciolo is a Professor of Physics at the University of Central Florida, USA, which he joined in 2004 after faculty positions at PUC in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, and at Duke University in the USA. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and a Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA. His areas of research are theoretical condensed matter physics and quantum information processing. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
