Chris Tetreault-Blay’s `It’s a Long Way to the Moon’ is a heart-warming, inspirational rhyming picture book that follows the exploits of a moth with just one dream – to fly to the moon. Along with help from some lovable animal friends, he discovers an easier way to accomplish his goal, and invites children along for the ride. Taking its cues from the works of such greats as Julia Donaldson and Eric Carle, Tetreault-Blay’s creation is set to become a classic in itself.
I was born and raised in Basingstoke but Devon has been my home since 2005. I live in Newton Abbot, only a few miles away from the beauty of Dartmoor. The views of the moors, together with my wonderful family, has long been an inspiration for me creatively.
I have a degree in Psychology and Sociology. Career-wise, I have held fairly normal jobs in the retail and logistics sectors. They’ve paid the bills but in recent years, it has been my writing that has brought me more comfort and fulfilment (aside from my family, of course!).
My earlier GCSE grades show that I had a particular penchant for English and Art, even though at the time school in general was nothing more than a chore. I never dreamt that one day I would have a platform to showcase my creativity.
I only started taking my writing seriously in 2013, shortly after discovering I was going to be a dad. I wrote horror fiction for the next few years and my first novel was published in 2015. But as I spent more and more evenings looking forward to story-time with my kids, I guess it was only natural that I would try my hand at creating my own `future childhood favourite’.
As a parent, nothing brings me more joy than hearing my children laughing, playing and getting lost in their own make-believe worlds. As a writer, nothing brings me more fulfilment than being able to put my own ideas on a page for others to enjoy.
