Julie Hilton Danan is spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel in Chico, California, and a lecturer in religious studies and Jewish studies at California State University, Chico. A popular educator and speaker, she has written articles on Jewish education, Israel, and Jewish parenting and family life for many periodicals, including Hadassah Magazine, the Baltimore Jewish Times, and the Philadelphia Jewish Exponent. Since publishing The Jewish Parents' Almanac, she received rabbinic ordination through the ALEPH Rabbinic Program and completed her Ph.D. in Hebrew Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Her five children are now in their teens and twenties.
