Ploughing through peat bogs, rescuing sheep, walking alone in the dark; this book has it all. It is full of riveting adventures of walking solo in the glorious British countryside. 'Just Another Pile of Stones' will take you on a journey from a child's first glimpse of the wonderful Lake District to heart-stopping moments, dangling from a rope above a black abyss, escaping from a herd of unfriendly cows and being lost in a hail storm. Its lyrical imagery and humorous tone make this a readable account of solo hiking that will have you lacing up your boots and setting off in search of your own adventures.
Christine Shepherd was born in Bolton, Lancashire. She now lives in Yorkshire with her husband, Peter. She has two daughters, Hannah and Rebecca, and is granny to two wonderful grandchildren. She is a retired teacher who has a passion for reading as well as walking the fells. This is her first book and is the result of many requests to write down the exciting memories that she has shared with friends.
