Based on interviews with workers at a chemical factory, this study elicits perceptions of authority relations at work and provides information on the degree to which people see these relations as legitimate. The employees discuss safety, self-fulfillment and resistance to authority.
Marc Lendler received his B.A. from Antioch University in 1970. For the next eight years he worked in a variety of factories in Cincinatti, Ohio. He then went on to receive his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University. Professor Lendler has taught at Connecticut College, Mount Holyoke, and the University of Pennsylvania. He now teaches Political Science in the Social Science division at Bennington College.
