With a foreword by Manjeet Mann, author of Run, Rebel and Roar.

‘They told me I was everything: 'tis a lie’

Rediscover Shakespeare’s tale of power and treachery.

The price for power is paid in blood.

The ageing King Lear must divide his kingdom between his daughters; but who to choose? Goneril and Regan, who love him loudly and flatter his ego, or the self-contained Cordelia, who waits for fate to bring what it will.

It is a decision that will unleash a storm upon the kingdom. A decision twisted by love, by smiles, by quiet treachery. A decision that could undo them all.

King Lear is Shakespeare’s iconic tale of ego and betrayal.

William Shakespeare was born to John Shakespeare and Mary Arden in late April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon. He wrote about 38 plays (the precise number is uncertain), many of which are regarded as the most exceptional works of drama ever produced, including Romeo and Juliet (1595), Henry V (1599), Hamlet (1601), Othello (1604), King Lear (1606) and Macbeth (1606), as well as a collection of 154 sonnets, which number among the most profound and influential love poetry in English. Shakespeare died in Stratford in 1616.
