Part of the Globe Quartos series, co-published with Shakespeare's Globe marking their rediscoveries of forgotten plays by Shakespeare's contemporaries.

King Leir is an anonymous Elizabethan play about the ancient king of Britain, published in 1605, but probably first performed in 1594.

The play is considered a prime source for Shakespeare, who may have seen it in performance. This version, however, has a happy ending with Cordelia marrying the King of France and being reconciled with her father.

This edition of King Leir is edited by Tiffany Stern.
