Knowledge Organisers are a widely used classroom resource, but there are challenges when it comes to their creation and implementation. This practical book offers support, help and guidance for teachers to ensure Knowledge Organisers are achieving their potential and enhancing teaching and learning opportunities, inside and outside of the classroom. The book offers concrete advice on the creation, design, distribution and use of Knowledge Organisers across a wide range of classroom contexts.
Chapters explore the ways in which Knowledge Organisers can be used to:
• Support a wide range of teaching and learning strategies, from rehearsal, review and retrieval practice
• Aid revision by helping learners gain the understanding and knowledge they need and the ability to recall successfully from long term memory.
• Provide support and challenge for learning and help with the development of self-regulation
• Assist students with SEND
• Involve parents in the learning process.
