A rich man parks his expensive car in downtown New York.

As he gets out of the car, he is surprised to see a young man in front of him, holding a gun. No need to panic. He's been in this situation before. It's surely about money, and therefore negotiable - isn't it?

There's a sharp crack of a gun and then silence.

A week later a small time crook has been arrested for murder. Two eye witnesses have put him at the scene of the crime, but did he pull the trigger?

He's facing death row and if there's to be a law of second chances, he needs a good lawyer fast.

James Sheehan was born and raised in New York City and grew up in a four-room railroad apartment with his five brothers and sisters. He started working at the age of twelve, shining shoes at a local shoe repair shop. At fourteen, he had a newspaper route. During school, he worked at a local delicatessen, an antique store where he stripped and delivered furniture, as a construction worked during the summers, a short-order cook throughout his college years, and as a roofer's assistant while he attended graduate school in Florida.

He is currently a trial attorney in Tampa, where he's practised law for many years. His experience of growing up in New York has shaped his life.
