This beginner- friendly volume is a detailed account on leadership in the rapidly changing business environment in India, offering classical as well as emerging models of leadership. Through illustrative case studies, research and self-assessment instruments, it maps the frameworks, perspectives and skill sets required for an individual contributor to evolve into a true leader.

This book includes a wide range of themes, current and emergent: leading a spiritual workplace, remote leadership, digital leadership, agile leadership, leading with stories, among others. It expounds on how the leader can be a coach as well as the designer of a spiritual workplace. It also illuminates some practices and measures, such as yoga, that can help employees grappling with the problems of perceived loss of meaning and purpose, leading to a spiritual deficit.

This book will be useful to the students, academicians, industry professionals and management researchers of organisational behaviour, general management, and human resource management and development. It would also be an indispensable resource for management development programmes on leadership.

Amitabha Sengupta currently teaches Leadership, Organization Behaviour, Negotiations and Human Resources Management. He holds a master’s degree from Calcutta University, a Post Graduate Honours Diploma from XLRI and a Diploma in Human Resources Management from Corneil University. His publications include Human Resources Management: Concepts, Practices and New Paradigms and a two-part case study, Infinity Insurance: Creating a New Organization.

Professor Sengupta, prior to taking up teaching, has had a successful corporate career in reputed organizations like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (Oil PSU) and Union Carbide India Ltd (MNC) for about 35 years. He is also a Management Consultant, Leadership Assessor and an Executive Coach.
