More and more libraries are working to organize their own library camps or unconferences - open, friendly and refreshingly informal gatherings for librarians to unite, exchange ideas, and share knowledge. This book provides you with the practical, step-by-step guidance you need to bring your vision of organizing a library camp to life. Author Steve Lawson walks you through the process from start-to-finish, with guidance for setting a date and location, organizing important technological components, planning events, and gathering equipment. You'll find advice for setting a budget, marketing your camp, and conference-day management, as well as tips for dealing with unexpected problems and methods for evaluating your camp's success.

Steve Lawson is currently the Humanities Liaison Librarian at Colorado College. Steve has a Bachelor of Science in Speech from Northwestern University, where he studied theater, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science, where he studied rare books, archives, and special collections. Prior to coming to Colorado College in 2003, Steve worked in the Science and Engineering Library at the University of California, San Diego.
