Join Pip and Sammy on a time-travelling musical adventure as they meet history’s most celebrated composers.

Wander through springtime fields with Vivaldi, take a woodland walk with Beethoven, attend Clara Schumann’s piano recital and experience the excitement of a grand firework display with Handel.

Each scene introduces a composer and the story behind a famous piece, then invites children to press the button and hear the music performed!

Featuring the following iconic pieces:

  • Antonio Vivaldi, ‘Spring’
  • Ludwig van Beethoven, ‘Symphony No. 9 in D Minor’
  • Frédéric Chopin, ‘Fantaisie-impromptu in C-Sharp Minor’
  • Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, ‘Swan Theme’
  • George Frideric Handel, ‘Music for the Royal Fireworks’
  • Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, ‘Violin Concerto in D Major’
  • Clara Schumann, ‘Three Romances’
  • Johann Strauss II, ‘The Blue Danube’
  • Nikolai Romsky-Korsakov, ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’

You can meet the composers in chronological order, or turn to your favourite pieces again and again, at your own pace!

With beautiful illustrations and immersive sound, Listen to the Music: The Composers is the perfect first introduction to classical music, inviting children to listen, learn and fall in love with music.

Mary Richards is a writer, publisher and musician. Mary was Publisher at the Hayward Gallery in London's Southbank Centre and Editor at Tate Publishing, commissioning and editing books for all the Tate galleries. She lives in London with four children, two cats and a large collection of Lego.

Skylar White is from Wisconsin, and now lives in New York City. Growing up she would practice drawing by copying illustrations from her favourite books, and knew she wanted to be a part of the exciting process of making books. She went on to get her BFA at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, CO, focusing on children’s books for her major.
