Children's books superstar Julia Donaldson retells a trio of charming tales from across the world in a stunning full-colour edition, ideal as a very first independent read for children who have grown up with The Gruffalo.

A king hides a terrible secret under his crown …A marvellous dream inspires an epic journey …A clever girl outwits the king. Told in hyper-readable language and with full-colour illustrations, these stories are an ideal first step for children embarking on a lifelong journey through the wonders of books and stories.

Julia Donaldson MBE is perhaps the UK’s best-known writer for the very young. She is a keen singer and songwriter and her astonishing gift for rhyme ensures the status of The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and many other joyful titles as modern classics. Julia was the seventh UK Children’s Laureate and when she’s not touring the country promoting a love of rhyme and reading, she divides her time between Sussex and Scotland.
