This book of short stories is a compilation of the winners of the Lock Down Lit Prize for Children. Entrants were invited to write about anything they chose. The competition aimed to provide a release for imaginations pent up by lockdown. The entry was far greater than anticipated. The stories arrived individually, in school groups and some came from overseas! There were poems, picture stories, funny stories, scary stories and some that were very personal.
The stories were put in three categories based on age not subject matter. The standard of entry was very high – it was clear that the teachers and parents have been doing their job on developing their children’s writing skills.
CHILD'S EYE
Child's Eye is the home for children’s literature in the Redshank imprint of Libri Publishing. Designed to appeal to children and parents Child's Eye publishes quirky stories with an edge that deal with a variety of subjects from the child’s viewpoint. Scary, cruel, or just downright funny, Child’s Eye stories invite the discerning reader to step into the weird and sometimes disconcerting world of a child’s imaginings.
Child's Eye books can also address issues affecting children such as bullying, family difficulties and health and can provide the stimulus for valuable conversations.
Steven Lane is the Commissioning Editor for Child’s Eye – the children’s literature section of Redshank Books. he previously worked in FE and HE and the public and private sector.
