Did you know that our universe is constantly expanding?
When we look up at the stars, they’re mixing and moving, flaring and fading.
Just like you grow each and every day, change is all around us.
I am changing, too.
In a beautiful text that all families facing serious illness can relate to, a mother explains her own illness and changing body to her child. Offering comfort, guidance, and explanation, the mother reassures her daughter that no matter how life unfolds in the journey ahead, their love for one another will always stay strong.
Lyrically written by Paula Schneider, a breast cancer survivor herself and CEO of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and gorgeously illustrated by Nicole Wong, whose family was also touched by cancer, this powerful story shows families that they are not alone.
The author's net proceeds from the sales of this book will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Paula Schneider, president and CEO of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, is responsible for day-to-day operations and strategic direction, and is accountable for the world’s largest breast cancer organization. Komen has made more than $3.6 billion in investments in breast cancer research, advocacy, and patient support since its founding in 1982, helping reduce the breast cancer mortality rate by 44 percent. As a mother of two daughters and a breast cancer survivor who lost her own mother to metastatic breast cancer, Paula’s work is personal as she brings a unique combination of business expertise and real-world perspective to Komen’s mission. You can visit her and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at Komen.org or follow her on Instagram and X @SusanGKomen and on YouTube at YouTube.com/KomenForTheCure and on Facebook at Facebook.com/SusanGKomen.
Nicole Wong was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, to two artist parents, so never thought of becoming anything except an illustrator. She drew constantly as a girl—including on the walls behind furniture, where her mom would find drawings years later. She received her first freelance illustration job when she was twelve, then graduated from RISD with a BFA in illustration at twenty-two. Now, she's happily a full-time illustrator of children’s books. She continues to live in Fall River with her husband, daughter, mean kitty, and happy, high energy dogs. She can be found online at Nicole-Wong.com.
