Pat Dunn presents another glimpse into the past of Lye, Wollescote and Stambermill, small Black Country communities spawned by the Industrial Revolution. In a collection of over 400 atmospheric photographs, the independence, sociability and humour of their inhabitants are shown, depicting alehouses and allotments, bands, choirs great gardens and industrial streets. Focusing mainly on people, this title attempts to capture the environment and the spirit of these Black Country folk. This spirit enabled them to rise above a frequently grim reality and has survived the monumental changes to the area over the last half century.
Pat Dunn was formally Head of History at Perryfields High School, Oldbury. Now retired Pat volunteers at Avoncroft Museum of Buildings, Bromsgrove and is a member of many arts societies. Pat lives in Hagley, Stourbridge.
