Marlow is a charming old town set on the River Thames and surrounded by rolling countryside. Due to its proximity to London, it has become a bustling and vibrant settlement in recent years. This fascinating collection of photographs illustrates the development of Marlow over the last century by contrasting archive and modern views of the town. As well as charting the changes, this book includes many images of the idyllic Marlow riverside, which has proved ever-popular with tourists, boaters and locals. In addition, the book includes some of Marlow’s famous residents, from twenty-first-century celebrities to the academics, poets and extraordinary people of the past. Each image is accompanied by an informative caption, and this title will be of interest to long-term residents and new visitors alike.

CECILIA SADEK was born and raised in Marlow. Following a spell living elsewhere, she returned to her home town in 2000. Cecilia is the founder of the Marlow Poetry Society, and plans are in place for collaborating with Marlow FM Radio to present a regular literature and poetry show. BARBARA RICHARDSON lived in Marlow for many years but recently moved away. She retains a strong love for Marlow's river, countryside and people.
