The Military Orders essay collections arising from the quadrennial conferences held at Clerkenwell in London have come to represent an international point of reference for scholars. Nicholas Morton is a lecturer in history at Nottingham Trent University, UK. His research interests include the Crusades, the military orders, Christian-Islamic relations during the medieval period and the Seljuk Turks. He has published extensively on these themes, and his recent monographs include The Field of Blood: The Battle for Aleppo and the Remaking of the Medieval Middle East and Encountering Islam on the First Crusade. He is an editor for two Routledge book series: Rulers of the Latin East and The Military Religious Orders: History, Sources and Memory.
