Wilkie Collins’ spellbinding tale of romance, theft, and murder that inspired the hugely popular modern detective genre. The Moonstone, a priceless yellow diamond, is stolen and no-one is above suspicion as we piece together a puzzling series of events… Classics Illustrated tells this wonderful tale in colourful comic strip form, offering an excellent introduction for younger readers. This edition also includes theme discussions and study questions, which can be used both in the classroom and at home to further engage the reader in the story.
Wilkie Collins (8 January 1824 – 23 September 1889) was an English novelist and playwright who, it has been proposed, was the writer of the first modern English detective novel; The Murders in the Rue Morgue. Don Rico (1912-1985) was an American paperback novelist, screenwriter and comic book aritst. He was described as a prodigy child artist and began illustrating comics in 1939, in the era now called the Golden Age of Comics.
