In the summer of 1942, Kitty is an ambulance driver stationed in Sussex. She meets Ed, a Royal Marine commando, and Larry, a liaison officer under the command of Mountbatten. Kitty falls instantly in love with Ed, who falls in love with her. So does Larry. The love triangle is set. However, the impact of the war is yet to hit. When it does, it will be devastating, both for those overseas and those left to fight at home.
