Come along on a caribou’s lifelong journey. Follow a young calf and its herd from the coasts of the Arctic Circle to the mountains of the Yukon and back. Learn how these hardy animals survive in the barren landscape and cold temperatures of the world’s northernmost habitat.
Nancy Loewen grew up on a farm in southwestern Minnesota, surrounded by library books and cats. She’s published more than 140 books for children and young adults. The LAST Day of Kindergarten and Four to the Pole (co-authored with polar explorer Ann Bancroft) were Minnesota Book Award finalists. Her Writer’s Toolbox series received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the Association of Educational Publishers. Nancy has also received awards from The American Library Association, the New York Public Library, and the Society of School Librarians International. Nancy lives in St. Paul and has an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University. She likes to read, cook, take long walks, and photograph oddities from thrift stores. Please visit her website at nancyloewen.net. Paula Zorite was born in Castellón, Spain. She developed an interest in drawing at a very young age and, as a child, spent much of her free time painting and creating characters. As a teenager, Paula studied Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and it was here that she discovered her passion for illustration. Since then, she has worked on many illustration projects such as illustrated books, comics and board games. She loves telling stories through her art and bringing fictional characters to life. Her favorite part of the illustration process is creating magical worlds that are entirely different from our own.
