Carmel has 33 years of experience working in schools. She has taught, observed or filmed over 20,000 lessons in primary and secondary classrooms. She is an honorary fellow of the Historical Association and co-authored two editions of Amazon best-selling Hodder 'My Revision Notes' for GCSE History AQA and OCR B GCSE. She is the host of the Reteach History Podcast into its third series. She has been a GCSE and A'Level examiner and regularly presents at conferences. She has worked with The British Library, The Premier League and has created several series for BBC Bitesize and BBC Teach. She was proudly part of the BBC Daily Bitesize Team during the Covid Lockdown. She's currently working with Historian Tracy Borman to bring scholarship to students and teachers on a CPD webinar series focusing on The Historic Environment and is honoured to be a judge in the inaugural 'Inspiring History Teacher' Awards 2026. However, most importantly most of her time is still spent with young people in the classroom.
