An enchanting non-fiction exploration of our world’s greatest marine mammals

‘An enchanting close encounter with some beloved denizens of the deep.’  –   Kirkus

Dive into the unique world of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. This beautifully designed guide for children ages seven and up offers a deep dive into the lives of marine mammals, covering everything from their historical ancestors to their babies, how they communicate to how they sleep, their epic migrations to how they have evolved to be perfectly suited to underwater life.

Bursting with fun facts organized into digestible, bite-sized sections, as well as more than 40 full colour, highly detailed illustrations depicting these beloved creatures and their deep blue homes, Mysteries of Marine Mammals is perfect for budding marine biologists, animal lovers, and any child interested in the vast world around them.

After a master’s degree in art direction at ESAG  Penninghen, author-illustrator Amandine Delaunay worked in a global design agency. She now works independently, creating her images by hand, inspired by traditional engraving techniques. She has illustrated several books including Entre chats, the Histoires naturelles series and Livre de la Nuit. This is the first book she has written, researched in collaboration with paleontologists, oceanographers and marine specialists.
