One of Jane Austen’s most charming and satirical novels, Northanger Abbey, shines in this beautifully designed deluxe edition.

Catherine Morland, a spirited young woman with a vivid imagination and a love for gothic novels, is thrilled when she is invited to stay at the mysterious Northanger Abbey. There, she begins to blur the lines between fiction and reality, weaving dark fantasies around the Abbey’s halls and its inhabitants. As her suspicions grow, so does her affection for the witty and kind-hearted Henry Tilney. But her imagination and social missteps may threaten her chance at happiness.

A brilliant blend of romance, wit, and literary satire, Northanger Abbey is both a coming-of-age story and a playful critique of the gothic novels so popular in Austen’s day.

Features include:

  • A deluxe cover with embossed foil accents
  • The complete and unabridged text
  • Elegant interior design and typesetting

A delightful gift for Jane Austen fans and classic literature collectors alike, this elegant edition of Northanger Abbey belongs on every well-curated bookshelf.

Jane Austen was born in 1775 at Steventon, Hampshire. She was the seventh child of the local rector, and her life, by modern standards, was uneventful. In 1801, she moved with her parents to Bath but returned to Hampshire when her father died, settling in the village of Chawton. She remained there until 1817, when she moved to Winchester to be within easy reach of her doctor. She died that year, at age forty-one, and is buried in Winchester Cathedral, which also contains a plaque in honor of her memory. Four of her novels were published anonymously in her lifetime; two more, one of which was Persuasion, appeared posthumously.
