Northfield Past and Present
This book includes a fascinating selection of previously unseen photographs drawn from the collections of local residents. Northfield has a beautiful conservation area about which much has been written, but the authors, John and Jean Smith, have endeavoured to cover a much wider cross-section including local churches, schools, sports and pastimes – subjects about which little has been written in the past. Parts of the village of Northfield have changed considerably over the past fifty years. With the advent of the regeneration plan, much more of the area will change again quite significantly over the next few years. Northfield Past & Present serves as a reminder of how the buildings, street scenes, places of work and local communities looked in past times and compares them with their modern equivalents.
