An Inuit retelling of an Aesop’s fable

A boy and his grandfather decide to gift a sled dog to the boy’s aunt. During their short journey they are met with comments by others in their camp. The dog isn’t strong enough; the boy isn’t gracious to his grandfather; the dog has too much work to do. What will the aunt say when they finally reach their destination?

A morality tale for young readers through the lens of the North.

Kevin Kaukuarjuk Qamaniq-Mason grew up in Iglulik and spent his teenage years in Iqaluit. His mother, Asita Uvinik Qamaniq, is from Iglurjuat, and his father, Marcel Mason, was from New Brunswick. Kevin now lives in Ottawa with his wife, their two kids, and their big dog, Inukpasugjuk, who loves pulling the family on a sled.

Vienno, a Brazilian illustrator with a degree in visual arts, grew up in a city surrounded by nature. His curiosity led him to become a self-taught painter, using gouache, watercolour, and crayons. Passionate about storytelling, he believes illustrations convey messages and create magical universes. When not working on animated series and picture books, he enjoys running in parks and sketching landscapes and local animals.
