He pays tribute to Andrew Lytle, Madison Jones, and M.E. Bradford, and explicates the fiction of Walker Percy. Taken together, the essays reveal Montgomery's gifts and temperament: a keen intellect combined with a reverential awareness of the importance of tradition.
