Jimmy Stephens was an icon, a legend of the Rock n Roll scene.

So what made this infamous singer, songwriter and founder of seminal rock group The Collective take his own life, after a long and seemingly successful career?

Determined to find out, a TV documentary crew decide to investigate, digging into what made the well-loved musician tick. But as the truth about Jimmy’s difficult upbringing in 1960s Birmingham comes to light, and interviews with his friends, co-workers and enemies delve deeper into who Jimmy was, they discover that there was more to the rock star than the public realised.

But what were the last words of ‘Citizen’ Jimmy? And how many other secrets was he hiding behind his Rock n Roll image?

Neil Coley’s commitment to serious, full-time writing started once he had retired from his 35-year teaching career and over the last few years he has been the author of many successful non-fiction and fiction books. He began by exploring and writing about the history of Lichfield, the Staffordshire city where he has lived for over fifty years. Neil then decided to branch out into novel writing. His latest novel, Once Below a Time, tells the story of seminal music star and band founder, Jimmy Stephens, through a series of interviews with the people who knew him.
