A heartfelt and joyous introduction to Diwali from the award-winning Rashmi Sirdeshpande, with stunning illustrations from Navya Raju.

In Jai's house the decorations are up, the lights are being lit, Diwali is coming! All the family gathers for the celebrations, the delicious food and treats and the dancing begins. But Jai notices that not everyone shares the same excitement: Izzy the new girl at school seems lonely, and their neighbour Mrs Carter wears a sad smile. So Jai sets out to bring joy to those around him, and the spark of an idea takes hold ...

Includes a Diwali non-fiction section to teach the youngest readers all about the celebration.

Rashmi Sirdeshpande (Author)
Rashmi Sirdeshpande is a lawyer-turned-storyteller, who was part of the Penguin Random House WriteNow mentoring programme in 2018. As a British Indian child, she didn't get to see many children like her in the books she read, so she is now passionate about writing stories that children from all backgrounds can relate to.

Navya Raju (Illustrator)
Navya Raju is a Manchester-Hyderabad based illustrator with a knack for visual storytelling. She predominantly works on publishing, advertising, and editorial projects, bringing ideas to life with imagination. Navya’s illustrations are influenced by architecture, cinema, literature, and pretty much everything and anything that fascinates her.
