The Ballinderry River rises north-west of Pomeroy in Co. Tyrone, and for nearly all its course it runs on the boundary between the counties of Tyrone and Derry, till it falls into Lough Neagh. Kevin Johnston lives in Moneymore Co. Derry. A writer and teacher, he has a deep and varied historical interest, and lectures widely throughout Ulster. His first book, In the Shadow of Giants: A social history of the Belfast Shipyards, was published in 2008 by Gill & Macmillan.
