What if the most impactful learning in school was never written down?
Take a deep breath, open your busy mind, and step into the transformational world of oracy - where children learn to think, reason and reflect through talk.
Drawing on real stories from a wide variety of educational colleagues. This book captures the lived experience of teachers and leaders embedding oracy in their classrooms. Laura reflects on oracy strategies and shows how these can be adapted for pupils and teachers of all ages and phases.
Grounded in practice and filled with realistic expectations and helpful insights. This book will help you harness the powerful impact of talk.

Laura Bisiker is a Primary Teacher and Oracy Consultant based in Leicester City. Alongside her passion for oracy, she currently leads English and has an interest in phonics, Key Stage 1 and curriculum design. Together with a colleague, Laura proudly co-leads the Voice Leicester Project and the Oracy Sparks initiative for Leicestershire.
She has worked with the national oracy charity Voice 21 as an Associate Programme Lead and has delivered oracy-focused presentations both locally and nationally. Known for her relaxed, personable style-reflected throughout this book-Laura connects deeply with teachers, inspiring practical, research-informed change.
She leads a close-knit, ever-growing network of local oracy-enthused educators who share ideas and learn together. Proud to balance teaching and consultancy, Laura ensures every idea she advocates is tried and tested.
Laura is also a proud mum to two beautiful (and fierce!) daughters, who keep life interesting for her and her lovely, patient, and ever-supportive husband!
