Performing Zimbabwe presents a transdisciplinary analysis of Zimbabwean music, drawing from different disciplines such as sociology, ethnomusicology, history, journalism, development studies, English, philology and drama. Luis Gimenez Amoros is a research fellow at the Centre for Humanities Research at the University of the Western Cape. Previously, he was an ethnomusicology lecturer at the University of Fort Hare and a postdoctoral fellow in the Unit of Zimbabwean Studies at Rhodes University. Regarding studies on Zimbabwean music, Gimenez Amoros has performed with many mbira artists and conducted the digital return of Zimbabwean recordings from the International Library of African Music (ILAM) related to his book Tracing the Mbira Sound Archive in Zimbabwe (Routledge, 2018).
Maurice T. Vambe is a professor of African Literature in English in the English Studies Department at the University of South Africa. He has published extensively on song, film and African literature in English and the Shona languages. His latest book is Genocide in African Fiction (Africa Institute for Culture, Peace, Dialogue and Tolerance Studies in collaboration with Africa World Press, 2018).
