A colourful, quirky hedgehog picture book about self-acceptance and individuality, perfect for 3–5 year olds.

Smooth, round, and perfectly squidgy… meet Pickles! He’s different from all his hedgehog friends, so he’s embarking on an adventure to find his prickles!

Prickles are very important for hedgehogs. But just how does a prickle-less hedgehog find his spines? Well, Pickles has lots of ideas! Colouring pencils, carrots and lollipops, to name a few! But none of them are quite right… Join Pickles on his journey of discovery in this charming hedgehog book as he encounters friendships, mishaps, and the joy of being himself.

Brought to life by the bold, technicolour artwork of writer and illustrator Lydia Ripper, this read-aloud storybook is a visual treat that explores themes of cooperation and self-esteem, helping little ones understand the importance of celebrating our differences.

Whether you’re looking for a new bedtime favourite or a wonderful gift, Pickles’ vibrant personality is bound to capture the hearts of animal lovers everywhere.

Lydia Ripper is a full-time illustrator and writer. She studied graphic design at Nottingham Trent University and brings an inimitable sense of style to everything she does: from makeup artistry and face painting to fashion and hair modelling. Lydia works primarily in gouache, crayons, pen & ink and fine-liners, and her style is lively, colourful, fun, and plays to that childlike innocence that is in all of us, regardless of age. Lydia’s dense and detailed illustrations tell stories and take you on a journey full of subtle surprises while her characters dance across the page with endless energy and movement.
