Reveal the hidden nutritional power of foods we often throw away, that can promote health, save money, and help protect our planet!
This utterly fascinating and evidence-backed book explores how to put more highly palatable, nourishing and delicious foods back on our table, using food that is often wasted.
Expert nutritionist and biomedical scientist Laura Campbell explains that so much of our food that is not treasured in fact contain sources of vital nutrients. We bin the wrong rubbish, wasting dietary medicines, whilst less nutritious, ultra processed food and drink creep onto our plates.
Planetable argues that the food that we don’t currently value, and instead throw away, can be an essential tool in helping to control blood sugar, boost brain power, strengthen our immune systems and support gut microbiota. These foods also have the potential to enhance metabolism, prevent inflammation, and even assist with ageing.
Rich with the latest scientific research and presented in an accessible prose, Planetable guides readers through each food group, complementing each section with recipes and advice for cooking, sharing, recycling, growing-your-own, and practically implementing this wealth of knowledge in daily life. The book will appeal to everyone, as it explores an expansive selection of topics, ranging from plant-based to flexitarian diets.
Planetable ignites an essential conversation that will change our relationship with food and how we eat, improving our own health, wellbeing and happiness, and the health of the planet forever.
