Political Communication, Congress, and the Presidency is the eleventh volume in the Year in C-SPAN Archives Research series, which examines contemporary US politics by focusing on the speeches and rhetoric of Congress, presidents, candidates, and political leaders. Utilizing research developed from the C-SPAN Video Library, interdisciplinary scholars from a wide range of disciplines explore the approaches, messages, and nuances of political rhetoric in US government. Topics include: Why do Republicans derisively refer to the Democratic Party? How does rhetoric differ based on gender? How have political social media and attitudes toward presidential impeachment evolved? Innovative social science research methods are employed to explore what we can learn from the vast, primary source videos aired on the C-SPAN television network and archived in the C-SPAN Video Library.

Robert X. Browning has been a faculty member at Purdue University since 1981, where he is a professor of political science and communication. He is the executive director of the C-SPAN Archives, which he founded in 1987, and which won a George Foster Peabody Award for creating the online C-SPAN Video Library. He also serves as the faculty director of the Purdue University Center for C-SPAN Scholarship and Engagement. He has authored ten books featuring research using the C-SPAN Archives. In May 2024, he was a witness on the authenticity of C-SPAN videos in the hush money trial of Donald Trump.
