This fleet of dorymen fishing the Grand Banks is now but a memory--and St. John's no longer its port o' call. Through harbour-front conversations in St. John's, Lisbon, Ilhavo and elsewhere, some of that memory is now relived in the pages and photographs of Port O' Call.

Born on Christmas Day, 1939 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Ms. Priscilla Doel is an Associate Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where she teaches Spanish and Portuguese, Latin American and Luso Brasilian Literature. She studied Spanish and Portuguese at New York University. She and her husband, Bob, live in rural Maine.
