A member of the Authors Guild and the Organization of American Historians, Hamilton is the author or coauthor of nine nonfiction books, including The ABC-Clio Companion to the 1960s Counterculture in America, Militias in America: A Reference Handbook, and the first edition of Presidents: A Biographical Dictionary for Facts On File.
