E. Desmond Goddard is an independent consultant in surface chemistry based in Manahawkin, New Jersey. The author of over 150 scientific publications and the holder of 25 patents, he is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry (Great Britain), and the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Dr. Goddard received the B.S. degree (1945) and the M.S. degree (1948) from Rhodes University in South Africa, and the Ph.D. degree (1951) from Cambridge University, England. James V. Gruber is a Research Manager for the Amerchol Corporation, a subsidiary of Union Carbide, Bound Brook, New Jersey. An experienced researcher in new product development for cosmetics, drug delivery, and other topical applications, he is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Dr. Gruber received the B.S. degree (1982) in chemistry from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, and the Ph.D. degree (1988) in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
