A collection of articles which look at the future development of religious education in the light of the 1988 Education Reform Act and at how religious education should now develop in schools. It contains practical guidance for meetings and workshops and questions to stimulate further discussion.
Brenda Watson, a former teacher of History, Music and RE, was for eleven years on the staff of Didsbury College of Education. She later became Director of the Farmington Institute in Oxford, and now works in a semi-independent capacity as a consultant to the Farmington Trust. Her book, Education and Belief, was published in 1988 and she is currently preparing one on religious education for Longman's Effective Teacher Series. As Chair of ARE (Association for RE) she was instrumental in the formation of the PCFRE (Professional Council for RE) which emphasizes a professional view of RE.
