The participation of the public sector in assessing the social impact of a wide range of projects is the focus of this ground-breaking book. Leading experts from the U.S. and Canada have contributed original articles based on their empirical research conducted in current impact situations. These are supplemented by the editors' analytical overviews

Dr. Gregory A. Daneke is associate professor of public affairs and business administration at Arizona State University. He has coedited Energy Policy and Public Administration (1980) and co-authored Performance Administration: Improved Responsiveness and Effectiveness in Public Services (1980). Dr. Margot W. Garcia is a program analyst with the USDA Forest Service; as part of a nationwide training program for the Forest Service in land management planning, she taught public involvement and land management planning.
