Accessible, comprehensive, and rigorous: Public Sector Economics provides the ideal balance of theoretical and applied coverage. In the only textbook to provide rigorous coverage of both economic theory and its applications to real-world policy, Vivien Burrows draws examples from a wide range of countries and encourages students to develop their own ability to apply the theory in new contexts. Key Features: · Provides comprehensive coverage of economic theory in an accessible manner. · Focuses heavily on analyzing applications of the theory to real-world policies. · Includes up-to-date policy examples from the UK, Europe, and a wide range of other countries. · Discusses the neoclassical theory for government intervention, along with critiques and alternative perspectives. · Explores how insights from behavioural economics can inform policy design. · Explains the intuition behind different theories and arguments, rather than abstract mathematical modelling.
