A quaint bookshop, a small-town murder, and a brand-new amateur sleuth—what could possibly go wrong?

Harvey Beckett dreamed of opening a cozy bookstore in the charming town of St. Marin’s, where the biggest drama would be late book returns. But when she stumbles over a dead body in her storeroom—none other than the town’s most nosy and unpopular reporter—her fresh start takes a deadly turn.

Her grand opening is overshadowed by whispers of murder, and Harvey is suddenly at the center of small-town intrigue. With her faithful hound, Mayhem, by her side and her aloof cat, Aslan, watching from a safe distance, she’s determined to clear her name and uncover the truth. But the deeper she digs into the town’s secrets, the more dangerous the game becomes.

Someone in St. Marin’s wants to keep the past buried—at any cost. Can Harvey solve the mystery before the killer closes the book on her for good?

Publishable by Death is the first book in The St. Marin’s Cozy Mystery series, a charming mystery collection filled with books, quirky characters, and plenty of small-town secrets.

Praise for St. Marin’s Cozy Mystery Series

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am ready to move to St. Marin's and be part of the IN group.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This charming story includes murder, a collection of friends, a new bookshop in an historical building that used to be a gas station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From the start the author has your attention and builds on the storyline very well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small town, a new book store, and murder…

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really appreciate the way the author wove history into her setting. Nothing like cozy mysteries with dogs, a cat, a sweet romance, and a murder or two.

ACF Bookens loves a good mystery, a quaint bookshop, and a good cup of coffee. She lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where she takes joy in the mountain views and the quiet back roads. She lives with her son and three rescue cats who are, of course, nocturnal. Aslan, the cat in her books, is based on her departed first cat by that name, who spent an inordinate amount of time digging up her houseplants.

In her books, Bookens addresses issues of justice and writes with intention to disrupt the white supremacy that says that "whiteness" is normal by making purposeful note of every character's ethnicity. She is weary of books that assume everyone is white unless the author says otherwise because being white is not the default of reality. Her hope is that readers enjoy escaping into her stories and are challenged, just a little, to make themselves better people and the world a better place from the reading.
