This book offers the definitive history of the company started by Danish-born Frode Christian Valdemar Rambusch (1859–1924) in New York. Beginning with his efforts in decorative painting and murals, the story expands into lighting design and continues with a study of subsequent generations building upon - and further expanding - these fields of work into other media. Catha Jackson Grace, educated at Smith College and New York University, was founder and national director of the Committee for the Preservation of Architectural Records (COPAR) at the AIA and created the Catalog of Landscape Records (CLR) at Wave Hill. Barbara Snowden Christen received her training at Williams College and CUNY Graduate Center. As an editor and architectural historian, she has worked at the National Gallery of Art, the Council of Independent Colleges, and the New-York Historical Society.
