Dr Ray Edmondson's long and illustrious career in the audiovisual archiving industry spans over 50 years. In addition to his work at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, Ray is a respected archivist and authority in the audiovisual archiving field. He continues to be involved with and contributes to professional associations such as the Southeast Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA), Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) and International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) to name a few, and international organisations like the UNESCO Memory of the World. As a tribute to its founding President, and to celebrate his work in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, SEAPAVAA has compiled a series of Ray's writings and a responding contribution to each piece by specialists who have been influenced and inspired by him. This volume also contains a comprehensive bibliography of Ray's writings and a range of photographs that illustrate the breath of his impact on the numerous individuals that he has guided and motivated.

The Southeast Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA) is an association of organizations and individuals involved in the development of audiovisual archiving in Southeast Asia and the Pacific as to preserve and provide access to the region's rich audiovisual heritage.
