This story is part of Reading Champion, a series carefully linked to book bands to encourage independent reading skills, developed with Dr Sue Bodman and Glen Franklin of UCL Institute of Education (IOE)

Fantastic, original stories are accompanied by engaging artwork and a reading activity. Each book has been carefully graded so that it can be matched to a child's reading ability, encouraging reading for pleasure. Perfect for 5-7 year olds.

In this twist on the original fairy tale Thumbelina, the mole tells his side of the story of when he met the tiny girl called Thumbelina.

Katie Woolley is a creative and versatile editor and writer who has worked on children's books for all age levels, from board books, novelty books and picture books to non fiction, licensed publishing and educational books and apps. Katie has more than 10 years' publishing experience; she has written, commissioned, edited and project managed a variety of titles for some of the biggest children's publishers, such as Ladybird Books and Hachette Children's Books. Edyta Karaban is a Children's book illustrator and author. She was born and lives Wrocław, Poland and graduated from the University of Wrocław, majoring in art history. She has been illustrating books for several years. She has a cat at home who is often a source of inspiration, and she loves drawing animals and creating animal characters, sometimes giving them human traits and attributes. She lives in a city but always dreams of being closer to nature. Fortunately, there is a big park next to her home, which she visits daily. Baking cakes always cheers her up, and if she wasn't an illustrator, she would probably have made cakes and desserts for a living!
