Jason Brubaker is an award-winning graphic novelist, Visual Development Artist, and animator. He began his career in 1996 drawing storyboards for feature films including Blade, Pitch Black, and Van Helsing before moving into animation. In 2009, he joined DreamWorks Animation, where he spent five years contributing to Kung Fu Panda 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Croods, Penguins of Madagascar, and Captain Underpants. He redesigned the DreamWorks opening logo for Kung Fu Panda 2.
In 2009, while working full-time at DreamWorks, Brubaker launched reMIND as a webcomic, releasing one page at a time. The series attracted over a million readers and led to one of the first graphic novel campaigns on Kickstarter (July 2010), which funded in under 48 hours. A second Kickstarter for Volume 2 raised over $107,000.
In 2014, Brubaker left DreamWorks to pursue comics full-time. He has since continued work on Phobos, his follow-up graphic novel series, and has raised over $500,000 across multiple crowdfunding campaigns. His work has earned a Xeric Award (2010), ALA/YALSA recognition (2012), and an Eisner Award nomination (2020).
