Tales grow longer the more they are told. This is very true in relation to the stories we know about the legend of Robin Hood. Yet in order to be a legend, then there must be a real person behind that legend and one that inspired the original stories. But who was he? Historians have looked and looked, but with no conclusive answers. Should we accept this, or should we consider all options, no matter how controversial their sources come from? This book will offer a very controversial, yet compelling outcome to the person behind the legend of Robin Hood.
I was brought up in a South Northamptonshire rural village and spent a lot of time exploring the local countryside and just spending my youth doing lots of different outdoor activities. I have a love for the Natural World and would like to see more importance placed upon its protection. I graduated in Geological Science from Plymouth and the years I spent there were fun, and I cherish all those memories. I have a passion for the prehistoric world, particularly Dinosaurs. These magnificent beasts dominated our planet's history for millions of years and yet they died out in a flash of geological time. This interest led to my discovery of a new species of prehistoric marine reptile on a Dinosaur Hunting expedition to the Isle of Wight. You may have seen me years ago (1998) on the BBC Fossil Roadshow celebrating Darwin at the Natural History Museum, where I showed this specimen. The Prehistoric World is one thing, but what mysteries still endure into the modern world? A chance encounter 30 years ago may have been the starting point to an interest that has preoccupied my mind for the last 10 years. This interest has ultimately led me to take a deeper look at the mystery behind the Robin Hood Legend. Who was he? Despite his popularity during the Medieval Period, we are still none the wiser who he was. Maybe, until now?
