On the way to the library, Sadiq and his family pass an empty plot of land in their neighbourhood. It looks like it could use some attention. Sadiq and his brothers and sisters come up with ideas for what the plot could become. A playground? A skatepark? Then a science unit about plants at school gives Sadiq and Hooyo another idea - a community garden! But where to begin? And how to get people involved? Siman Nuurali grew up in Kenya. She now lives in Minnesota. Siman and her family are Somali— just like Sadiq and his family! She and her five children love to play badminton and board games together. Siman works at Children’s Hospital and in her free time she enjoys writing and reading.
